Your World

A good day on God’s Good Earth

One day oh Lord I looked at Your world. I Saw You Hold the sun and moon and stars in Your Hand as they all gently span a pre-set course on their own axis.

In the still hours of the morning, You weaved misty clouds among the hills. Thicker clouds draped like silky white gowns over the valleys.

As the sun rose You whispered sweet words into the sky, and clouds like drifting cotton wool rolled out their greetings for all to see. All the while the sun's rays danced through the curls and knots in the clouds, busting into shards of gorgeous shades of pinks, greys and blues.

A slow blowing breeze whisked around the tree leaves, shaking each one awake from their sleepy slumber. The birds drew gulps of fresh morning air as they lazily preened themselves for the day’s toils.

Soon the skies were filled with the sounds of many different birds, animals and insects, all talking in their mother tongue; the language You gave each one.

Deep in the oceans, fish teamed in schools to learn of the great Love You have for all things wise and wonderful.

Later, inviting rain cooled the heat of the day, kissing trees, bushes and grass alike. Water trickled into every small corner of Your Good Earth. Now gathering together and forming large pools, the water made its way down to the river in unspoken obedience to Your Law.

That night while most men lie asleep in their beds, You Lord breathed across the sky, drawing thin clouds like drapes over the brightly lit moon. The moon that shines through the night as a testament of Your kindness to each one of us, even in our darkest hour, stood firm as the clouds now veiled the intensity of its light. Through the thin clouds the moon would not easily give up its splendour. A glistening halo hugged round its shoulder, increasing the light it shed.

The birds were safely tucked in bed, once more to dream of a Maker who cares just for them.

Dedicated to Tom and Sharon Murphy with appreciation and love.
