Singing without a song

Oh, how little time we have
How the days fly past
Without a word or deed of love spoken or done
Darling how wrong I have been about you
And about life
About the things that matter most

Forgive me for running after pockets of air
For concentrating my thoughts, my life
And my whole being on irrelevant feelings

Help me rather to be a man
To do things which not only pleases one of us
Help me to do those things
Even though they may seem to be hard
Yet bring happiness and fulfilment in both our lives.

How often have we sought only after self
How often have we spared no thought for anybody else
How often have we done foolish things
Without even thinking
How often have we hurt other people
Without even knowing about it?

Let us give thought to this day
Let us give thought to this life
Let us cast aside all that
Which has come between us
Let us love each other as never before.
Let us think of other people first
Let us make Christ the Head of our home

Oh, my little one, how it pains me
To think of you being gone
To live without you
Would be like singing without a song.
Life is not worth living without you.

If then you feel the same way
Why do we always seem to draw away
From each other
Darling a love like ours should last forever

So then;
Shouldn’t we strive to build one another up
Rather than point a finger
Shouldn’t we strive to bring happiness and joy
Peace and harmony too
Shouldn’t we strive to live lives
That would be an example to others
Shouldn’t we strive to love each other
With a love far greater
Than ever we have known.
Shouldn’t we strive to make Heaven our home.

This then my plea
Help me to love you
As you love me

To my wife Val.
