Downtown

The other night just before I went to sleep, I felt that I was walking downtown. As I looked at the buildings, I saw that they all had larger than life paintings on them. The most disgusting paintings I have seen in my life. There they were for all to see.

I was horrified to see that in some of the paintings, I saw friends of mine. Now if that was not bad enough, there were some other people that looked very much like some prominent church folk.

Building after building the pictures got worse. I wanted to close my eyes, but I had to see where I was going. I tried to rub the paintings out but the paint was hard and dry. I scratched and scratched but the paint would not come off.

It was then I noticed this guy who had what looked like a sponge, and he was wiping these paintings away. I wondered what he was using to get the paint off. He kept dipping the sponge into a pail. I was about to ask him when another painting caught my eye. This was the most gruesome of all. It was me! I was in the painting. I ran away. The faster I ran the more the memories came flooding back. Had someone seen me….then!! No! Can it never be! Where was the man with the sponge and his bucket?

Who had seen me at my worst? How graphic that painting was. That person must somehow have been almost inside of me to get such detail. Where was that man, I must find him. Oh, help me find him.

If perchance my wife came past that painting, or my dear Mom or my innocent children, God help me. Please I need someone to…. Ah, I saw the man, he was coming down to meet me right where I was at.

“Please Sir,” I begged, “Come and do this one next, I will pay you anything!”

He calmly walked over to the very spot I had seen and took the sponge and started to wipe away that ugly picture.

I looked into his pail and saw that he was using His very Own Blood to wash away my stain.

Thank You Lord for saving my soul.

Thank You Lord for making me whole.

For God so Loved the world that He Gave His Only Begotten Son,
That whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
